The Lore of Hedge Wizard Brown Cow of the Steppe

People still walk up and say “how now”
to me. Sometimes they moo. They think it’s cute,
I guess. My bunny, slightly resolute,
wiggles her nose. Grew up pulling a plow,
I did. Saved up for wizard college, where
I learned wonders amidst velvets and silks
and finest crystal. Sold a little milk
for my expenses. Lighter than the air
are student longings to build and create
the latest wonder. Folk thought me a joke
for my horns, and the rounded words I spoke
with bovine lips. But they still hesitate
and snicker, while, refined, I bask in wealth.
I shrug my shoulders—drink up to their health.
