Kelpie Temple Stone

I have dedicated my life to ensuring the knowledge of taming the Salt Kelpie is hidden within this Temple. To many that is but less than a century but to this "Darkling" it has been a life that has spanned a thousand years.

A thousand years ago the Salt Kelpie terrorized Villages around Kelpie Bay. In a battle to end all battles we tamed the Salt Kelpie. In it's final act of defiance the Kelpie cursed me to a Darkling.

What is a "Darkling" to you?

Darklings were relegated by mythology to a lineage of cursed fey, forever doomed to absord light and to suffer rapid aging from exposure to it.

Cursed fey? Yes, that's right. I was from the Fey before moving to Ashen Veil in the Southern Thicket to fight the Salt Kelpie!

That was long before the Salt Kelpie put this insufferable curse on me. The fight to tame the Salt Kelpie was just as perilous as the journey to learn how to fight the Salt Kelpie.

I am all that survived the battle with the Kelpie... if not for this retched curse I too would have died.

I could have returned to the Fey. My people might have understood. But it's too late. All I knew are long forgotten.

What was I as a "Darkling"?

I was like a Vampire without the need to feed on blood.

What is a Salt Kelpie?

In it's tamed state it's a powerful horse when wild it is Pure Evil!

This image is what has been seered into my head. It looked so peaceful when becoming a horse. As if it longed for it yet it wouldn't let it's evil go.

What is this Kelpie Temple I have built?

I am the only survivor. I have used the strength of the tamed Kelpie to gather the material to build this Temple. By Darkness I have constructed this Temple to bring Light to the world if the Salt Kelpie returns.

The Salt Kelpie has grown stronger and this curse cripples me to the Darkness.

What is this Temple?

The many rooms and passageways of this Temple provide the clues you will need to tame the Salt Kelpie if that Evil is unleashed again.

If you do this it will be harder than you've ever imagined. In the wrong hands even a tame Salt Kelpie can be used for Evil.

This Temple holds within it's walls the secrets to taming the Salt Kelpie.

Where is the tamed Salt Kelpie?

The tamed Salt Kelpie has been taken to an undisclosed location. It's power is too much for any one person to command. The tamed Salt Kelpie was handed to Wizard #17 and Wizard #1183 with instructions to keep it far from any salt water. These traveling wizards were riding Pony #1 and Pony #97, who seemed to calm the tamed, yet strong, Salt Kelpie.

The instructions were clear. I hope they keep it calm long enough to move it far from salt water. The pull of the Salt Kelpie to salt water is unbearable on the beast. One touch of salt water and the beast will regain it's power.

They and the world is now warned.

One Final Sacrifice

To protect this knowledge I will seal this temple with my fate. As I have been cursed to pure darkness any light that reaches me burns with pain worse than a 1,000 Kelpie strikes.

This Sacred Flame... I can't imagine the pain I will feel from pure light, sacred as it may be, overtaking my cursed pure darkness.
